Senior Cost Analyst

Dart Container is seeking a mid or senior-level Cost Analyst to join our dynamic team to analyze cost components involved in the production and distribution of our products. These costs are used when making many key business decisions and identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce costs across the Company. The accuracy of our Costing team allows other areas to make confident decisions which ultimately affect our customers and Dart?s overall business.

You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other departments, plant locations and distribution centers to evaluate and update cost information in our Dart-specific Product Costing Analysis software. This role requires an understanding of accounting (preferably cost accounting), analytical skills, critical thinking, a keen attention to detail, and one who enjoys a work environment where every day presents a new challenge.
Day-to-Day Role:
Use the company?s processes, methodologies, philosophies, and strategies to develop product costing recommendations
Obtain accurate and detailed information required for costing analyses and decisions
Maintain and update the cost accounting system by collecting standard cost information from relevant sources
Accurately complete analyses of our costs to produce and distribute the products; provide clear and concise written summary of the situation with cost recommendations which incorporate logic and the company?s philosophies and strategies. Send documentation to stakeholders, when appropriate.
Document costing decisions and steps taken
Monitor relevant cost components and update product costs
Communicate potential cost reductions identified through product costing process to assigned production personnel areas
Identify and investigate variances in expected and annual costs within a plant/product line, as well as differences between production facilities
Identify and implement improvements that increase the accuracy of product costing
Act as an interface between departments through meetings, telephone contact, and written correspondence.
Provide analytical support to others in the department by completing a wide variety of special projects
May be involved in interviewing candidates for the department
May be involved and support the training of Associate Cost Analysts
Senior-level Cost Analyst will also be responsible for the following:
Mentor, train, develop, coach, direct, support, and provide constructive feedback to designated department members
Will be involved in initial and ongoing training and development for Analysts, Interns, and other department employees
Provide analytical support, complete special projects, lead department sub-teams and assist with interviewing and evaluating candidates
May have responsibility to make product costing decisions
Core Skills and Qualifications:
Cost Analyst candidate must possess all of the following:
Bachelor?s degree with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or related field of study
One (1) year of work experience in an accounting, finance, or related position
Proficiency using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, business letters and spreadsheets in MS Word and MS Excel
Strong analytical skills and ability to recognize and solve problems, and implement solutions
Ability to demonstrate personal accountability, take ownership of work, and apply learned concepts
Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes, procedures, and decisions
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
Ability to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities
Ability to collaborate with other departments and team members
Ability to streamline processes, integrate, and associate pieces of information gathered from multiple sources and apply to projects
Ability to utilize business sense and creativity to develop new ideas and solutions
Senior-level candidate must also possess all of the following:
Five (5) years of work experience in an accounting, finance, or related position
Ability to be assertive, show initiative, demonstrate personal accountability, take ownership of work, and apply learned concepts
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Cost accounting experience
SAP experience

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
