Behavior Management Technician, SLC/Evergreen


Under the general supervision of the Principal of Emotionally Impaired and Adjudicated Youth Programs the Behavior Management Technician provides support to Secondary Learning Center and Evergreen students who are experiencing emotional/behavioral difficulties challenges that prevent active participation in the classroom. Assists in the process of preparing the student for successful re-entry into the classroom setting.





  • Utilizes appropriate and consistent behavior management techniques to reduce behaviors that are disruptive to the student?s learning process, while increasing behaviors that promote self-regulation and successful participation in the learning process.




  • Develops and implements behavior intervention programs in conjunction with all staff.? This may include, but is not limited to, the program?s level systems and social skills training groups,




  • Oversees the operation of the school?s Center room, which assists student to regulate their behavior when they are experience challenges during the school day. Develops necessary procedures and keeps data regarding Center Room involvement and records the data in the SWIS system.




  • Works cooperatively with supervisors, support staff, and teachers to develop individual behavior management plans for students who exhibit a lack of success on the SLC's Behavior Management System. Works with social worker and teachers to implement and monitor individual behavior management plans.




  • Maintains regular communication with supervisors, support staff, and classroom teachers.? Communicates with parents, local school staff, community agencies, and others regarding individual students when necessary.




  • Coordinates the student council, including running bi-monthly meetings and supervision of special activities.




  • Participates in reviews and staffings for assigned students as necessary.




  • Establishes a positive working relationship with assigned paraprofessional staff, volunteers or others assisting in the program.




  • Becomes familiar with and abides by established district policies and procedures.




  • Assumes such other duties as may be assigned by the program administrator.







  • B.S. degree from an accredited college or university in the areas of psychology, social work and/or related social sciences preferred.




  • Formal training in behavior management utilizing principles of learning theory.?




  • Minimum one to two years? experience in educational or a clinical setting.




  • Demonstrated ability and successful experience in behavior management.




  • Interpersonal skills which promote good personal relationships with students, parents, staff and others.




  • Capacity to work effectively with youth exhibiting noncompliant, oppositional and defiant behavior




  • Ability to maintain a calm and steady demeanor during a crisis situation.







Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
