Safety and Security Officer
During training, this position will work 8am-5pm Monday - Friday.
Once training is complete, this position will follow a 2-week rotating schedule as outlined below:

Dart is expanding our Safety & Security team that supports our Corporate headquarters in Mason, Michigan 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This 1,971,000 sq foot campus houses roughly 1,500 employees in 9 buildings. Our officers will be entrusted with the safety and security of all employees, contractors, visitors and assets on our campus. You will patrol the campus and provide assistance as needed, while maintaining the safe and secure atmosphere to which our people are accustomed.

Day-to-Day Role:
- Monitor and investigate activities or incidents that occur within assigned area
- Write reports, accurately reflecting an event or series of events
- Mitigate risk through various means; de-escalation techniques, identification of safety and security issues, etc.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies
- Participate in department initiatives and training for security and safety services
- Understand, follow and contribute to policy and procedure development
- Execute directives, instructions, and assignments issued by the management team
- Monitor employee and other vehicular and pedestrian movement on the property
- Interact with and provide/exchange information with employees
- Develop a rapport with personnel at all levels of the organization
- Participate in community relations activities
- Maintain a positive and courteous demeanor at all times, practicing open dialogue and understanding
- Communicate with others in an honest, professional, and respectful manner
- Project a pleasant professional manner to represent the Company positively
- Use lockout tools, perform jumpstarts, etc.
- Participate in safety training, audits, and planning
- Take on dispatching services, answer phones, and perform operational control of CCTV/access control/alarm systems, etc.
- Increase knowledge base through pursuit of additional education, training and/or certification in focus areas of this position
Core Skills and
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:
- Requires one of the following:
- Associate s degree, OR
- High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or fire services
- Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications
- Demonstrated high level of awareness, good judgment, and critical thinking skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and consensus building skills
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously (e.g., face-to-face contact with visitors, clerical duties, and multiple phone calls)
- Strong listening skills, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents and spreadsheets in MS Word and MS Excel
- Ability to operate a multi-line telephone, handheld radio, personal computer, copy machine, and/or scanner
- Ability to move swiftly in an emergency, render aid and physically move injured personnel
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver s license
- Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Safety and security services are provided on campus 24/7.
Preferred Skills and
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree
- Certification in Medical First Responder or EMT
- Law enforcement, safety, military, fire services or security background
- Prior customer service-related experience
- Ability to present training programs on safety and security-related topics
